Connor R. Transition Program
In his years with Spectrum, Connor improved his reading, communication, and math skills which were fundamental areas that improved his overall independence.
Students with autism enrolled in a Spectrum school or program follow a developmental progression to increase skills in:
Social & Adaptive Living
Our practices are based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which is widely recognized as the most effective, evidence-based treatment for autism and is endorsed by the U.S. Surgeon General and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
All Spectrum teachers and staff are highly-trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) practices, and experienced in teaching students with autism. Our staff create an environment for students that is predictable, consistent, structured and positive.
Spectrum can also provide ongoing professional development to build the internal capacity of district personnel to deliver services to students with intensive needs.
Behavior Support Services
Spectrum is known for our depth and ability to provide behavior support services. School districts can engage Spectrum to provide discrete behavior support services or conduct Functional Behavior Assessments, Functional Analysis Assessment or develop Behavior Intervention Plans. We structure the education environment for maximum support, including the systematic use of resources, physical factors and organizational strategies.
We work with the district to ensure the necessary and qualified staff, including administrators, clinical specialists, mental/health therapists, and behavior interventionists, are in place to implement the programs with fidelity.
Independence is key for transitioning to adulthood, and our transition services provide a place for students to learn those skills. We focus on each student’s interests, abilities, independent living skills and personal goals to create an individualized transition plan. By collaborating with students, families and community partners, Spectrum creates opportunities for students to gain valuable work and life experience through employment, volunteer service and other types of community engagement.
