Welcome to Sierra Sands
Located in the Indian Wells Valley of the Mojave Desert stands the Spectrum Center Sierra Sands Campus in Ridgecrest, California. We are a non-public school that serves a student population of grades Kindergarten thru 6th that have learning disabilities. Our students learning disabilities include emotional and behavioral disorders including Autism, ED, Intellectual Disabilities and other health impairment.
We proudly share a campus with Pierce Elementary School and look forward to collaborating to help the success of all student populations. We currently have one classroom with room to grow, we have the ability to have a capacity of 12 students in the classroom and currently have one teacher with several instructional aides to ensure a positive staff to student ratio.
Our staff are all trained in Positive Behavior Intervention Support which includes a point and level system, applied behavior analysis, behavior intervention plans and much more. Some of our students can be 2-4 years below grade level in academics and our staff have been properly trained in the research-based curriculum that is used in the classroom for the individual needs of our students.
Program Director Spotlight
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
Hello, my name is Jennifer Bayarena. I am honored and humbled to serve as Assistant Director for Spectrum Sierra Sands. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, more than 20 years’ experience in education, and a background that includes the trauma-informed application of ABA strategies. My master’s program will continue to build on this foundational knowledge base.
Personal experiences, life detours, and a little universe intervention led me into this position serving students and their families. I value collaborative relationships with stakeholders and community members. I am passionate about helping students find success in learning new skills that they can take with them into the world.
As the Assistant Director, I am dedicated to fostering a culture of consistent positivity and high expectations that allows our students to thrive as they find success and acceptance through supportive relationships. I look forward to meeting challenges and celebrating victories as we find the best strategies to help our students walk into their future with confidence.
