Jadyn is a 5th grade student in our Functional Skills Program who has been with our Spectrum family for almost 6 years. He started off in our Kinder classroom and over the years has made a tremendous amount of progress in academics, behavior, and communication skills. Jadyn has excelled in his letters, numbers, colors, sounds and most importantly his language skills. He has learned to use our PEC’s system to communicate his wants and needs to teachers and staff in a variety of environments allowing for a decrease in maladaptive behavior.
He is verbally now able to say “I want more” along with a selection of other words. He points to letters and numbers and can verbally sound them out. Jadyn also counts up and down from the number 10. Jadyn has also shown great progress in habit-training, to manage his behaviors. Although he still requires some assistance, he has been able to complete almost all steps independently over the past few years. Aside from his behavior and academics, Jadyn is a kind, loving, sweet boy. He enjoys hugs and squeezes and loves to be around staff. He is always smiling throughout his day and has built great relationships with the staff he has worked with. We look forward to seeing his progress continue here at Spectrum!
