Welcome to Tara Hills
Welcome to Tara Hills. We are a unique nonpublic school providing education and therapeutic services for various students. Some of the primary disabilities are autism, emotionally challenged, other health impaired, speech and language, severe learning disabilities. Students that are referred to our school need support in self-regulation with staff that are trained to work with students that need more intense support then is offered at their public school.
Tara Hills provides a positive reinforcement program that has consistent school wide rules, point and level system, applied behavior analysis, verbal praise and recognition, behavior intervention plans, awards and assemblies monthly.
We have students academically at many different levels, some at grade level, 2 to 4 years below grade level and students that are at an instructional level above their grade level. Tara Hills staff challenge students academically teaching at students’ instructional level and using SRA Reading, Writing and Math interventions for students below grade level. Building their confidence and teaching them at their instructional level is very important to student success.
Staff are trained to take behavior data and academic data to track students’ success and communicate to parent/guardians daily on student point sheet. We encourage lots of communication daily/weekly. Our number one goal is to work with each individual student on their behavior and academic goals and transition them back to the school district in a less restrictive environment when they are ready.
