Welcome to Rossier Park Elementary
Welcome to Rossier Park Elementary/Middle School in Orange CA. We are a unique nonpublic school providing education and therapeutic services for students Kindergarten thru 8th grade. Some of the primary disabilities are autism, emotionally challenged, other health impaired, speech and language, severe learning disabilities. Students that are referred to our school need support in self-regulation with staff that are trained to work with students that need more intense support then is offered at their public school.
Rossier provides a positive reinforcement program that has consistent school wide rules, point and level system, applied behavior analysis, verbal praise and recognition, behavior intervention plans, awards and assemblies monthly. Each classroom is small with maximum of 12 students, 1 special ed teacher, minimum of 2 instructional aides and in some classrooms several instructional aides depending on the needs of students. Our program provides 60 minutes of counseling to each student (30 minutes of group session and 30 minutes of individual). We have 2 behavior therapist that support the campus with positive activities and behavior interventions if needed. On campus is a speech pathologist for students that need services. All other services school districts send provider to our campus.
We have students academically at many different levels, some at grade level, 2 to 4 years below grade level and students that are at an instructional level above their grade level. Rossier staff challenge students academically teaching at students’ instructional level and using SRA Reading, Writing and Math interventions for students below grade level. Building their confidence and teaching them at their instructional level is very important to student success.
Staff are trained to take behavior data and academic data to track students’ success and communicate to parent/guardians daily on student point sheet. We encourage lots of communication daily/weekly. School activities are communicated to families weekly including level 5 outings, field trips, working in the school garden, going to the park for physical education and school assemblies. We feel if our students are having fun and learning staff are having fun also. Our number one goal is to work with each individual student on their behavior and academic goals and transition them back to the school district in a less restrictive environment when they are ready.

Ms. Hayes has been with Spectrum for 5 years. She worked for Rossier Elementary and High School for several years prior to the Spectrum acquisition. She has been a teacher, Curriculum & Instruction Specialist, and Program Director. Prior to coming to Rossier Park Schools, Michelle worked as an ABA home support staff, group home teacher, and Job Coach. She loves to travel, hike, cook, garden, and spend time with family and friends. What she loves most about Spectrum is we work hard for our school to be one fun, loving school community. The staff works together as a team to make sure students are successful and have fun. The Rossier parents really appreciate their work and commitment especially when challenging behaviors decrease.
