Federal law mandates that all students are guaranteed a free and appropriate education. When a student’s needs aren’t being met in their current educational environment, you and the parents should work together to determine the next step.

Why recommend Spectrum?

If you’re considering recommending a student for one of our Spectrum Center Programs, we’ve made the process easy for you, the parents, and the student. Here’s what you should do:
  1. Learn about Spectrum.
    Take some time to review our website & learn about our programs and services, our locations, and our organization.
  2. Download our online brochure.
    It’s a useful reference tool when talking with others in your school district or the parents of a special needs student. To request a printed copy of the brochure, simply send us an e-mail or call us at (510) 741-5440.
  3. Contact us.
    We’d enjoy the opportunity to talk with you about your student in particular, or the needs in your district in general, and the ways Spectrum can offer short-or long-term options to meet those needs.
  4. Come for a tour.
    If you’re recommending us to a particular student, bring the student and parents along. We’ll introduce our staff, show everyone around our facility, and discuss how we can customize our programs and services to meet the unique needs of each student. Together, we can explore the options available for each child. If you want to recommend us to educators in your district, we’re happy to meet with you along with other representatives of your district to discuss how we can support your special education goals.
  5. Recommend
    Make your recommendation. To the parents. To your district. Just remember, regardless of the need, we’re here to help.
